Do I need the Tri-Screen 3 Mac Adapter with the Dual-Screen 3?Updated a day ago

🌴 Free Yourself Week: July 1 to July 7
Our team is taking a well deserved break for Free Yourself Week. During this time, live support and setup assistance will be unavailable. If you don't find the answer you're looking for in this article, feel free to submit a support request. We'll be back on Tuesday, July 8, and will respond to all messages as quickly as possible.

Unlike the Tri-Screen 3 (which requires the adapter for all Mac users), the Dual-Screen 3 only needs the adapter if your USB-C port does not support DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 3+. This applies to both Mac and Windows users equally.

You need the adapter if your port says: USB-C only, USB 3.2, or Gen 1 β€” with no mention of DisplayPort or Thunderbolt (3+)

You do not need the adapter if your port says: DisplayPort, DP Alt Mode, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4.

Unsure what ports your laptops has? Check our port guideΒ here.Β

Still Unsure?

No problem. Just send us your laptop's exact model name (for example, Lenovo Yoga 7i 14-inch, 2023), and we'll let you know exactly what you need.
