Do I need the Tri-Screen 3 Mac Adapter for my laptop?Updated 3 hours ago

Below is a simple guide to help you figure out what you’ll need the Tri-Screen 3 Mac Adapter for your setup.

  • Mac users:
    • All Mac users need the Tri-Screen 3 Mac Adapter. Check out HERE
  • Windows, ChromeOS, or Linux users:
    • First, check what kind of ports your laptop has.

If your laptop has USB-C ports that say DisplayPort, DP Alt Mode, or Thunderbolt 3 (or higher), you’re all set. You don’t need any adapters.

    • If your laptop’s USB-C port only says USB-C, USB 3.2, or Gen 1, and does not mention DisplayPort or Thunderbolt, you do need the Tri-Screen 3 Mac Adapter.

  • USB-A users:
  • Surface Pro users:
    • See more info about your setup HERE.

How to Check Your Laptop’s Ports (Easy Steps)

If you’re not sure what kind of ports your laptop has, here’s how to find out:

1. Find your laptop model name.

  • Mac: Click the  logo at the top left → “About This Mac.” You’ll see something like MacBook Air (M2, 2023).
  • Windows: Click the Start button → type “System Information” → press Enter. You’ll see something like Dell XPS 13 9310 or HP Spectre x360.
  • You can also look at a sticker on the bottom of your laptop.

2. Search for your model online.

Type this into Google:

Your Laptop Model + “specs” or “technical specifications”

For example:

  • Dell XPS 13 9310 specs
  • MacBook Pro 2021 technical specifications

3. Look for a section called “Ports”, “Connections", or "I/O"

That’s the list of all the plug types on your laptop. You’ll see things like USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, or Thunderbolt.

4. Check what it says next to USB-C.

  • If it says DisplayPort, DP Alt Mode, or Thunderbolt (3 or higher), you’re good to go.
  • If it only says USB-C or USB 3.2, but doesn’t say DisplayPort or Thunderbolt anywhere, then you need the Tri-Screen 3 Mac Adapter.

Still Unsure?

No problem. Just send us your laptop’s exact model name (for example, Lenovo Yoga 7i 14-inch, 2023), and we’ll let you know exactly what you need.
